Rubber City Ukes has successfully given ukuleles to Akron area programs for children, thanks to the generous support of donors, vendor donations, and our dedicated members. Through these contributions, we have been able to provide the following support:

  • Greater Summit County Early Learning Center (S.C.O.P.E. Academy)

  • North Hill Community Music Center

  • Mason Community Learning Center

  • Kenmore Branch, Akron-Summit Public Library (tuners)

Update on the Donations in Memory of Scott Evans

The Rubber City Ukes collected monetary donations from family and friends in honor and celebration of Scott Evans.  In Sept/Oct of 2022, 25 Enya ukuleles, along with a strap, case and tuner for each ukulele were delivered to Mason Community Learning Center in Akron, Ohio. In the spring, members of the Rubber City Ukes will have a concert with the students joining us for a few songs.

With the remaining funds, we were able to purchase 10 Snark tuners for the Ukulele loan program at the Kenmore Branch of the  Akron-Summit County Public Library.

We appreciate the donations and being entrusted with carrying forward Scott's mission of "Music for Everyone."

In Memory of Scott Evans

It is with great sadness and the heaviest of hearts that we inform you of the passing of Scott Evans the morning of 6/11/22 at home. While there is relief that he is no longer suffering, we are going to miss his presence on this planet. He was an incredible light, sharing his talent and encouragement, teaching us not only to be better musicians, but also better people by setting the bar for patience and kindness.

Hallie has asked that, in lieu of flowers "donations be made to the Rubber City Ukes to support their mission of music for everyone, providing ukuleles to area schools, and building community through playing, singing, and performing together." She is glad that we can provide a place for donations that actually "fits Scott."

Rest in peace, dear Scott. We pledge to be good stewards of your mission of "music for everyone."
